On March 28, Shea Concrete Products of Amesbury, MA again filled the training room of their brand-new precast concrete headquarters on Haverhill Road for the second of their series of 2018 Technical Engineering Seminars.
Drawing a crowd of 42 construction, engineering, and precast professionals, Shea’s March seminar offered a full-day of technical learning from a wide-range of industry-leading speakers.
These sessions included opening remarks from Shea President Greg Stratis, information on Environment 21 stormwater systems from Gene Majchrzak, a presentation on ReCon Wall Systems from Director of Engineering Mike Klotthor, a presentation from Norweco’s Paul Cannon on the Singulair Green Bio-Kinetic wastewater treatment system, and a deep dive into Easi-Set precast concrete buildings with Jeremy Smith.
Shea also offered guests a tour of their state-of-art precast concrete manufacturing facility. The new headquarters, which opened in January 2018, was designed with LEED-certification in mind by utilizing a wide range of sustainable materials and practices, including a roof-mounted solar panel array, sustainable precast concrete construction, brownfield and wastewater considerations, and steps to minimize construction waste throughout the construction process.
The day of technical presentations concluded with statements on Precast Manufacturing Facility Certification by National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) Director of Quality Assurance Programs, Phil Cutler.
It was again exciting for all of us at Shea Concrete Products to host such a well-attended technical seminar. Our team is committed to helping engineers, specifiers, and contractors with any precast questions and/or solutions. And as part of that commitment we will continue to host these seminar events with new and exciting presentations moving forward” said Greg Stratis.
This event was offered by Shea at no cost to attendees, who also received 5 Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) for attending. Due to the interest in attending this event, spaces filled up quickly and demand for future sessions remains high among industry professionals.
“Thank you for conducting such a wonderful and productive seminar. I found the items to be educational and useful. I got the opportunity to network with some professionals not in my normal circle of influence.” said Daniel A. Nash, PE of Advanced Geomatics & Design (AGD)
Shea will be hosting their third technical engineering seminar on May 8, which will host some new speakers covering topics including Retaining Wall Design & Construction Best Practices, ReCon Wall Systems, Self-Leveling Manhole Technology, Design & Quality Control Considerations for Manufacturing High-Quality Underground Precast Concrete Structures, and tours of the headquarters and manufacturing plant facilities.
Shea Concrete Products would like to thank all speakers and attendees for making the second 2018 Technical Engineering Seminar at the new headquarters a success, and looks forward to hosting more successful seminars for years to come!
