Shea Concrete Products is proud to announce the ReCon Retaining Wall Systems newest designation as a New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) Pre-Approved Proprietary Wall System. Shea Concrete Products has been a ReCon Wall Systems, Inc. partner since 2003 and manufactures the product at its Nottingham, NH facility as well as in Amesbury, MA and Wilmington, MA.
This designation identifies ReCon Wall Systems, Inc. as pre-approved and compliant within New Hampshire’s state-specified compliance guidelines for retaining and gravity wall applications. This designation adds Shea Concrete Products to a small list of Pre-Approved Proprietary Wall Systems providers currently approved by the NHDOT.
As a result of this new designation, contractors, municipal planners, and projects throughout the state can leverage Shea Concrete Products manufactured ReCon Retaining Wall Systems block as a pre-approved product for retaining walls throughout the state.
“Not only will this designation give Shea Concrete Products greater opportunity to be selected for relevant DOT and municipal works projects throughout the state, but it also gives contractors and planners guidance directly from the DOT when deciding who to work with for their retaining wall needs,” said Larry Cutts, Retaining Wall Manager for Shea Concrete Products.
ReCon Wall Systems, Inc. earned this designation from NHDOT only after completing the state’s rigorous approval process with the guidance of ReCon’s support team, which requires submission of a written request and documentation on a vendor’s retaining wall production and installation processes. Once reviewed, this documentation is then approved by NHDOT before official designation as a Pre-Approved Proprietary Wall provider may be conferred.
“We’re excited to add New Hampshire to our list of approved states,” said Michael Klotthor P.E., ReCon’s Director of Engineering. “Being NHDOT approved will allow the Shea Concrete Products team and the contractors that they work with to bid more projects and bring additional value by utilizing the ReCon Retaining Wall System”.
In addition to providing direct NHDOT guidance to contractors, this designation also brings the potential to lower costs for contractors and project planners by introducing yet another pre-approved product and provider into the state’s list.
“By adding the ReCon Retaining Wall System to the list of Pre-Approved Proprietary Wall Systems providers for contractors to choose from, the state is offering contractors more leverage on pricing negotiations and more value, all while holding to a high level of product quality,” said Shea Concrete Product’s Hugh C. Scott IV, P.E.
ReCon Wall Systems, Inc. and Shea Concrete Products are honored to be named among the state’s Pre-Approved Proprietary Wall Systems Providers and looks forward to leveraging this designation on future projects and efforts with contractors and project planners throughout New Hampshire and New England. Shea Concrete Products operates its NH-based facility in Nottingham, NH as well as three additional facilities in MA to ensure product need requirements and customer service expectations are met. All of Shea Concrete Products manufacturing facilities operate as National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) Certified Plants.
