Nottingham Facility Expansion Celebrated with Open House & Ribbon Cutting

July 17, 2026 / News & Events

On June 12, 2026, Shea Concrete Products hosted an Open House at its Nottingham, New Hampshire facility, highlighted by a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of a new production building.

Governor Kelly Ayotte participated in the ribbon-cutting and joined the Shea family for a tour of the facility, helping make the event a memorable milestone. Hundreds of industry partners, customers, friends, and family traveled from across New England to celebrate the expansion.

The Shea Concrete Products team is incredibly appreciative of the support and excited for the opportunities this investment creates as the company continues serving New Hampshire and Northern New England. As Ed Shea often says, “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.”

A Family Business Built Over Four Generations

Founded in 1949 by Ernest (“Ernie”) Shea in Wilmington, Massachusetts, Shea Concrete Products began as a small family-operated concrete block business.

Over the decades, the company expanded from manufacturing septic tanks into a broad range of precast concrete products serving residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and state markets. Through strategic acquisitions, facility expansions, and continued family leadership, Shea Concrete has grown into one of New England’s largest precast concrete manufacturers.

Now entering its 78th year of operation, Shea Concrete Products remains a fourth-generation family-owned and operated business with four production facilities across Massachusetts and New Hampshire, while continuing its commitment to quality, customer service, and family values.

The Growth of the Nottingham Facility

Shea Concrete Products acquired its Nottingham, New Hampshire facility in 1999 through the purchase of New England Precast, which included both the Nottingham, NH and Amesbury, MA operations and their team members.

Originally situated on 23 acres, the Nottingham property has since expanded to more than 80 acres, becoming an important part of Shea’s growth throughout New Hampshire and Northern New England.

During the economic downturn in 2008, production at the facility was temporarily suspended, and the site was used primarily for product storage and staging. Manufacturing resumed in late 2014 and early 2015, with expanded production of utility, stormwater, septic, transportation, and municipal precast products.

Since reopening, Shea has continued investing in the facility, culminating in the completion of the new 22,500-square-foot production building.

Investing in the Future

When Shea acquired the Nottingham facility, it did not include concrete production equipment and required significant upgrades. In 2006, the company installed a 2-cubic-yard Besser concrete mixing and batching system, which remains in operation today and supports average daily production of approximately 50 cubic yards.

The newly completed 22,500-square-foot production building features a fully automated 3-cubic-yard Wiggert USA concrete mixing and batching system, manufactured by Greenland, New Hampshire-based Wiggert USA.

This investment will significantly increase Shea Concrete’s production capacity, making Nottingham the company’s second-largest manufacturing facility behind its headquarters in Amesbury, Massachusetts. More importantly, it positions Shea Concrete to expand the products and services it provides throughout New Hampshire and Northern New England.
